woman with hazel eyes and bronze eyeshadow with text overlay - Most Flattering Eyeshadows For Hazel Eyes

While hazel eyes are beautiful all on their own, adding gorgeous eyeshadows to your makeup repertoire is an easy way to bring them out and accentuate their color. It’s also a powerful way to add extra smoldering depth & dimension to your eyes, something that eyeliner and mascara can’t do on their own!

Now, if you’re a hazel-eyed Beauty, you should consider yourself quite lucky! Your eyes are a marvelous blend of multiple colors that can be rather beneficial when selecting eye makeup.

Looking in the mirror at your iris, you’ll likely notice a combination of lovely swirls & flecks of brown, green, and gold. Somedays, they may look greener, and other days, more in the amber, light brown, or on the golden-brown spectrum.

The beauty of this variety of colors is that you have many options. Depending on your mood or the look you want, you can play up one color one day and another the next! You’ve been blessed with some serious versatility!

What Are The Best Color Eyeshadows For Hazel Eyes?

As a makeup artist, a common concern I’ve heard from clients is not knowing what makeup colors will look good on them, particularly in the eye makeup department. So, to help all you gals with hazel eyes, here are some tips for selecting your eyeshadows based on color!

  • There are two methods commonly used for selecting eyeshadow colors.  To determine which method you’ll use, first, you need to decide if you want to go with something more subtle or if you’re looking to go bold & make your eyes pop.
  • If you want a more subtle or even natural look, it’s all about picking colors that create harmony.
  • For a bolder look, it’s all about creating contrast and using color theory to do so.

These are a few of the essential makeup strategies I teach in The Master Your Eyeshadow Guide because they truly are the absolute best ways to select one’s eye makeup. And they are particularly useful when considering options to play up your eye color.

What Colors Create Harmony With Hazel Eyes?

For harmony, you want to enhance the colors that already exist and are visible in your iris. Therefore, you want to look into browns, greens, and gold to bring out their richness.

Additionally, metallics like bronze or even copper make particularly lovely options for added warmth & a brightening effect. And all of the above (brown, green, gold, copper, & bronze) can work for something more subtle.

PRO TIP: For a natural look, you want to lean towards earthy browns and neutrals.

What Color Makes Hazel Eyes Pop?

To make your eyes pop and take that bolder route, it’s all about picking colors that lie directly opposite from one another on the color wheel. Depending on the degree of green or gold in your iris, you want to take a look at the color that falls opposite green or yellow on the color wheel.

Do your hazel eyes lean more towards golden today? Are there quite a lot of gold flecks visible in the iris? Or do they lean more into the green column today?

If you notice a yellow undertone to your hazel eyes or very visible golden flecks, you want to go for purple eyeshadows to make them pop.

However, if they appear greener, red is the color directly opposite of green on the color wheel. Therefore, you might want to look into red-based eyeshadow colors.

Now, I wouldn’t suggest a bright, blatant red eyeshadow, but you can certainly look at colors like raspberry, burgundy, rose, rust, cranberry, etc.

10 Best Eyeshadow Palettes For Hazel-Eyed Gals!

1) CHARLOTTE TILBURY Luxury Eyeshadow Palette in Vintage Vamp

This particular eyeshadow palette (and #6 on this list) is perfect for hazel-eyed beauties looking to make an easy eye makeup transition from daytime to evening. Not to mention for any gals who happen to be makeup beginners. Why? Well, each shade is color-coded and represents a step for easy-to-follow eyeshadow looks suitable for work or play!

  • So, for example (during the day), the gold shade (bottom left) represents the “prime” color and is your step 1. You can use this eyeshadow on your eyelid.
  • The shade directly next to it represents the “enhance” color and will be your step 2. You can use this shadow in your crease and at your lash lines.
  • For the evening, you can repeat the first two steps plus add in the remainder of the colors. The top left color represents your “smoke” shade. This one works well when applied to the outer “V,” the outer portion of the lid, and can also be used at the lash lines.
  • The last pink shimmer shadow (top left) represents your “pop” shade. You’ll want to use that to highlight the inner corners of your eyes or apply it right at the center of your lid on top of the “prime” shade.

While there are fewer eyeshadows in this palette than some of the others I’ll be talking about, it does have red & purple-based tones along with gold, which are all, of course, superb colors for gals with hazel eyes!

2) Morphe 35XO Natural Flirt Artistry Palette

As we’ve discussed, reddish tones and purples are the best way to make those hazel hues pop gals. Well, this palette with 35 curated colors offers a collection of everyday neutrals, red-based purples, and pink (a red-based shade), giving you plenty of options to experiment with! From rose to mauve, pink, red-browns, and to-die-for berry hues, rest assured, all of these will look incredible on hazel eyes that have a lot of green in them!

It has a combination of matte and shimmery shades, which is a must for techniques that require three or 4-color eyeshadow placement on different parts of the eye! However, if you prefer a simpler eye makeup approach, you can always stick to just one color. With such vibrant shades, even wearing just one can make a MEGA eye-popping impact!

3) ColourPop All Amethyst Pressed Powder Palette

The dramatic and exciting hues in this palette are perfect for creating bold, striking looks for hazel-eyed gals who want to make a statement! From deep purples to lilac, violet, and periwinkle, you can take your hazel eyes from 0 to 100 in no time with this one.

Plus, who doesn’t love the added shimmer and sparkle that these shades offer? A shimmery eyeshadow can add some unexpected pizzazz to any eye look, whether it’s a subtle touch or an all-out glam moment. And with this palette’s mix of mattes and shimmers, you have the best of both worlds to play with! The highly pigmented formula ensures that these eyeshadows will look stunning on your lids and stay put all day (and night) long.

PRO TIP: Another one of my favorite purple palettes is this one from Huda Beauty! Also, you could try this Colourpop purple palette! While it’s not an exact dupe of the Huda Beauty one, it does have very similar shades, making it the closest dupe available!

4) Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette – Bronze Seduction Pat McGrath Labs

Honestly, I always say you really do get what you pay for, which is certainly the case with many makeup products. While it may be okay to take the budget-friendly drugstore route for some items, eyeshadow is not one I commonly recommend doing so with.

Now, this palette may seem like a splurge, but if you are in the market for a luxurious PRO-level eyeshadow palette, look no further. The eyeshadows from this brand are seriously unreal and so very much worth every single penny!

The other day, I was using a few Pat McGrath shadows along with another shadow from a second brand I also really love. Let me just say that the difference in smoothness of application, blend-ability, and pigmentation between the two was so stark!

I became a full-fledged Pat McGrath believer, to say the least! Many of the shimmers look breathtaking if you want to use them for a colorful liner with a wet brush.

The delectable chocolatey browns, neutrals, and metallic eyeshadows in this palette (golds and bronze) create harmony for hazel eyes. Therefore, these shadows can totally work for a more subtle daytime look while still enhancing the eyes, as well as a nighttime look!

And if your hazel eyes have a great deal of green in them, you’ll love this palette for its rich additional red-based tones (Blitz Flame & Rose Gold 005).

5) Mothership VII Eyeshadow Palette – Divine Rose Collection

Now, if you want something more romantic and softer as far as eyeshadow shades, you should, without a doubt, give the Divine Rose Collection palette a go! Much like the previous palette, it offers a nice variety of warm neutrals and metallics that work well for a daytime look.

The bronze & gold shades will accentuate the gold flecks in hazel eyes for a radiant & dazzling effect! The rose and pink shades will also play well against the visible green tones & hues in your eyes for a sublime contrast.

PRO TIP: Given that powder eyeshadows can last up to 2 years (minimum roughly 12 months) and the fact that this palette is wearable day and night, there’s really no need for sticker shock. It’s roughly only $5- $10 bucks a month when you do the math, and most spend more than that on lunch in one day!

6) CHARLOTTE TILBURY Luxury Eyeshadow Palette in Rebel

7) Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette PILLOW TALK DREAMS

Click Here To See More About It

Now, this Tilbury palette is the perfect way to give your hazel eyes an infusion of warmth & pop! And a bonus is that it also happens to be quite universally flattering as far as skin tones are concerned.

Combining four rosy-toned eyeshadows (rose gold, dusky rose, berry brown, & rose-bud pink) is an excellent option if you want to try something red-based but not over the top!  In fact, it’s probably your safest bet if you’re not ready to go with bolder red tones just yet.

This particular model’s hazel eyes, depending on how the light hits them, can sort of appear in the range of amber to light brown.  Of course, if her eyes leaned more heavily into green hazel, then these eyeshadows would significantly pick up the green and make it really stand out.

But even still, if you look very closely, you’ll notice that these shadows do seem to pick up an almost golden mixed with olive tone (thereby picking up a very subtle hint of green) at the outer lower portion of her iris. So, if your hazel eyes have a lot of green to them or even just the slightest, subtlest green tone to them, then I wholeheartedly recommend this palette.

8) Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Eyeshadow Palette (Honeymoon)

The combination of red and purplish tones in the bottom two eyeshadows will make both the natural green and the gold flecks in your hazel eyes stand out.
