Disclaimer: (Please Note The Following) The recommended products listed in this post were not the specific ones used in the creation of these looks. These are, however, my suggestions as a professional makeup artist on the best products one can use to recreate them or something very similar.
LOOK 1: Neon & Bright
For those of you who want to make a beautiful bold statement this Halloween, this look is perfection! The key is using a color for your hair and eyes that pops.
Of course, it doesn’t have to be neon or even yellow; this look would be stunning with pink, purple, blue, or even orange!
You’ll want to apply your base makeup as you normally would. Then use a bronze eyeshadow on the majority of your lid and smokey silver on the inner portion of your lid.
To make things easy, use an angled eyeliner brush to create outlines of the shapes above and below your eye. Then using a small concealer brush, you can fill them in. For the other eye, you can opt for a pencil brush or concealer brush and apply a touch of that bright color to your inner eye corner.
Get The Look With These Products:
- MANIC PANIC Electric Hair Color Gel OR MANIC PANIC Hair Color Spray Dye
- You can find other fabulous Face & Body Paint From Mehron HERE…
- Mehron Makeup Fantasy F/X Water Based Face & Body Paint – This can be used on the face and hair, so you can use the exact same shade for both.
LOOK 2: Dark Smoldering Glam
Want to go dark and alluring this Halloween? The great thing about this particular idea from our Halloween makeup looks is that you probably already own most of the makeup you need to recreate it.
However, if you don’t have eyeshadow for the smokey eye, we recommend using a palette like this one from Lorac.
Extend your eyeliner inward at the tear duct, creating a tiny “v,” and don’t forget to load up on mascara! Keep the lips soft and subtle with your favorite natural-toned lipstick, and try sticky jewels like these for the cheek.
LOOK 3: Creative Queen Of Hearts
This Creative Queen Of Hearts makeup look is one of my personal favorites. To recreate this makeup, you’ll need gold face paint (for the brows and lips) and sticky rhinestones like these to place on top of your regular makeup.
For the eyes, use shimmery cranberry and gold eyeshadows along with a purple eyeliner pencil for your waterline. You can use a red lip liner to outline the gold lips if you prefer to keep things simple & convenient.
For the gold paint, try Mehron Makeup Paradise Makeup AQ Face & Body Paint (Metallic Gold) OR Mehron Makeup CreamBlend Stick – Body Paint (Gold)
LOOK 4: Simple & Pretty Sugar Skull
Not into looking too scary for Halloween? This makeup look is precisely what you need. It’s easy to do and can be paired with any outfit (for example, skinny jeans & a cute black top).
PRO Tip: If you really want to give yourself options as far as recreating this look, a brush set like this will provide you with more versatility. You can go thicker or thinner where you need to!
Simply start with your regular base makeup (foundation, concealer, and a little contour under the cheekbones). You’ll need bright red lipstick, black liquid liner and/or black pencil eyeliner (for the forehead), a few colorful face paints, and at least one thin precision liner brush.
Finish it off by adding red roses to your hair with an accessory like this, and voila! You’re ready to go!

LOOK 5: Orchid Blossom Fright
This year, step away from the expected, take your love for florals, and give it an unexpected Halloween twist! You’ll want to use pink eyeshadow on your full lids (going above your crease) and vibrant yellow-green on the inner section of your lid.
Add yellow eyeshadow onto and above the arches of your eyebrows. We recommend using this palette from NYX for all the shades.
Then, with purple and pink face paint (or colored liquid eyeliners), you can create squiggly lines that extend from the outer eye corners. You can also try using just a touch of purple eyeliner on your upper lash line if you’d like. Finish the eyes with a few swipes of mascara!
Make sure you go with a bright pink lip shade and apply a glossy yellow to the center of your upper and lower lips.
Of course, to truly make this look frightful, you’ll want to add in some extreme press on nails. Lastly, bring everything together with a floral headpiece or orchid hair clips.
LOOK 6: Masquerade Mask Of Pearls
If you’re looking for a Halloween makeup look that’s both elegant and mysterious, look no further than this amazing masquerade mask of pearls! From the image, I can tell latex foam makeup sponges were cut up into tiny pieces and glued to the face, likely with spirit gum.
However, if you’ve never used spirit gum, you can do the same things with duo (eyelash glue). In fact, I recommend using the duo near the eyes anyway.
Now, if all this sounds daunting, you can easily use gems instead of foam sponge pieces for an equally lovely look!
Try adhesive face pearls and a bright blue liner to achieve this look. If you’d rather use adhesive gems as opposed to the foam, check out these options.
LOOK 7: Black Bead Vogue
This is the kind of Halloween makeup look that takes a bit of time to perfect, but it’s absolutely worth it in the end. To get this look, start by applying your base makeup, blush, and neutral bronzy eyeshadow.
For the eyes, you may want to use a liquid black liner at your crease and upper lash line. Then, use a black eyeliner pencil for your lower lash line, stopping right where your inner lashes start. This is usually close to 3/4 of the way in.
Next, grab your black liquid liner again and create a straight line that extends from where you stopped using the eyeliner pencil and goes inward in the direction of the bridge of your nose.
If you don’t want to do beads, you can always do black rhinestones instead. And don’t forget those polka dot lace gloves for the full effect!
LOOK 8: Life Imitates Vivid Art
You know what they often say, “life imitates art.” Well, here’s one of our Halloween makeup looks that’s living proof of that! You’ll need a palette with a variety of face paint colors like this, mascara, and lipstick.
To make things easier for yourself, try using a makeup stencil or something with a flat edge so you can keep the block shapes clean and defined. Then for the hair, any ol’ art supplies like colored pencils and paint brushes will do!
LOOK 9: Coral Goddess
Unleash your inner goddess! As far as our Halloween makeup looks, this one is pretty straightforward. You’ll need a highlighter, lip gloss, a peachy coral blush, a metallic peachy coral eyeshadow, and a bright blue liner for your water line.
But what truly pulls this whole look together is the beautiful headpiece. Try one of these crown-spiked headpieces to create something similar.
LOOK 10: Plastic Surgery Feen
This is definitely one of the more unique Halloween makeup looks on our list. However, it’s still super cool and creative at the same time! For this look, you’ll need to apply your regular base makeup and do smoked-out eye makeup using black pencil liner and burgundy or maroon-toned eyeshadow.
Extend the eyeshadow from the inner brow region, going downward along the sides of your nose. You don’t have to go all out with the gauze and red bruised tip for your nose, but you can if you’d like.
Then, use a black liquid liner (or brow pencil) to draw the “surgeon markup arrows” on your cheeks and forehead. You can then use red face paint to draw the fake incisions along your jawline, for the cheekbone region, and around your hairline. Finish off with the lips, making sure you overline them!
To take this look to the next level, try adding some gauze wrapped around your neck and head!
LOOK 11: Comic Festive Pop Art Chic
Pop art-inspired Halloween looks are so fun and easy to recreate with makeup! The key is to draw on the colorful areas (like the dramatic pink brows and the blue lower lashes) and then outline them in black for that cartoonish vibe.
Apply your base makeup and contour a touch under your cheekbones. Then apply black eyeliner to your upper lash line creating a little flick on the end. Right above that line, use a yellow liquid liner for a double eyeliner effect.
Next, you’ll do the exaggerated brows, lashes, and lips, outlining each before moving on to the next. Lastly, you create the black lines along your forehead, cheekbones, and nose. Add some temporary hair dye or stick with your own hair color; it’s up to you!
Try Mehron’s Paradise Paints, OR you could try a kit like this from CCBeauty for the colorful areas.
Additional Pop Art Halloween Makeup Looks:
Here are two more ideas for doing this type of look. The makeup and tools needed will be pretty much the same as for the above look. I recommend using black liquid liner for the thin, precise lines and colorful face paints.
LOOK 12: The Ethereal Flower Child
You know what they say, hallows eve is the one night of the year when you can be anyone or anything that you want! So why not channel your inner flower child with this ethereal makeup look? If you’re looking for something quick and pretty, then this is it!
Just add a touch of pink eyeshadow to your lids, green eyeliner, some lengthening mascara to your lashes, pink blush, and a natural pink lip. Then, add a few strategically placed flowers to your hair, and you’re all set!
Another Variation Of A Flower Child Makeup Look:
This look can be achieved in many ways, whether you want to switch up your hairstyle, eye makeup, or lips. Get as creative as you’d like! The key is using a ton of flowers!
PRO Tip: If you need help creating fuller-looking buns like hers, try this kit!
LOOK 13: Retro Glam
What’s Halloween without a little bit of glam? If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd this year, try this retro-inspired makeup look. Don’t let the lower lashes intimate you; it’s actually easier than you think.
After applying black eyeliner to your upper lash line and creating that seductive feline flick, you’ll want to use a black pencil liner to draw in those little lines.
- You want to take the pencil and place it right up under your natural lower lashes.
- Create one tiny dash, then another, skipping space in between and allowing your dashes to get just a touch longer as you move from the inner lash area to the outer.
LOOK 14: Simple Stickered Vibes
If simple Halloween makeup looks are your preference, this playful one takes the cake. Apply your base makeup as you usually would and move on to the eyes.
You’ll need three colored ink eyeliners, but you certainly don’t have to stick to these particular colors (green, white, and cranberry). Just make sure one of the colors matches your lipstick shade.
Then, take your favorite colorful stickers and apply them to your face in any way that you please. If you need more sticking power, use lash glue on the back of them.
LOOK 15: The Baddie
Want to channel your inner bad girl?? Equal parts sexy and badass, this is undoubtedly one of those Halloween makeup looks that’ll get you noticed!
To do the intricate shapes around the eyes, I recommend using an eyeliner like this one from Stila as it has two different-sized tips, which will allow you to use each one for different areas of the eye.
Try a lip gloss like Vortex or Violet Disco for bold lips (or mix the two), and add whatever black leather attire and accessories you can find in your closet!
PRO Tip: If you’re worried about the triangular shapes at your eyes’ inner and outer corners, try using a stencil like this to create crisp, straight edges.
LOOK 16: Be My Valentine Eyes
Valentine’s Day may be a long way away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rock a pink and red eye look for Halloween! To get this look, you’ll need pink and red face paints, a few red rhinestone stickers, and some glitter with glitter glue.
Make sure you add some lengthening mascara to your lashes to give your eyes more definition. You don’t want your eyes to get lost with all the color.
The beauty of this makeup is that you can go with bright pink or red lipstick, whichever you prefer!
LOOK 17: Galactic Chic
Go full-on galactic and slay at your next Halloween festivity with a look like this one! Sculpted cheeks, bold purples & greens, with bi-color metallic lips, and you will have everyone thinking you beamed straight down from some far-off galaxy!
We love a shade like this one for the lower lip! And for the neck paints, we recommend Mehron’s Paradise AQ Makeup, as they have quite a few greens, blue-greens, orange, purples, and metallics. Additionally, if you think you’ll struggle with the neck, consider trying makeup stencils.

LOOK 18: In Living Color
Looking for easy Halloween makeup looks? While the hair may not be easy, the makeup certainly is!
Apply your face makeup as you usually would, and use a bright pink eyeshadow along with a black eyeliner pencil for your upper and lower lash lines, creating a flick out the outer corner.
Then go back in with your black liner and create a line in your crease that flicks outward toward your brow tail.
You can use a traditional foundation brush or concealer brush to apply the black face paint. Try MANIC PANIC Electric Hair Color Gel OR MANIC PANIC Hair Color Spray Dye for your hair.
LOOK 19: Queen Of The Bats
No Halloween makeup look is complete without a nod to the holiday’s most iconic creature- the bat! This year, why not take your cue from the Queen of the Night herself with this vampy makeup look?
You’ll need some shimmery shadow for your lids, a purple liner (ink or gel) for your eyes, a glossy dark purple lipstick, and a brown eyeliner pencil for the faux freckles, which are optional.
PRO Tip: While it’s not a gloss per se, this NYX lip shade is fairly similar. Then add a clear gloss over it!
LOOK 20: The Boho Beauty
If you’re more of a boho babe, this Halloween look is for you! Start with a pink and purple smoky eye. Then, use a touch of metallic green on your lid, a coppery shade at your inner eye corners, and a vibrant deep blue eyeliner pencil at your water line.
Add black eyeliner and a few sweeps of mascara for your lashes, and finish your makeup off with a nude lip. Then all you’ll need is a head scarf and some bangles, and you’re ready to boogie the night away!
LOOK 21: Barbie Doll
Transform yourself into the ultimate plastic beauty with this Barbie Doll-inspired Halloween makeup look. You’ll need a midtone brown eyeshadow for your crease, beige or ivory eyeshadow for your lid (something that matches your skin tone), false lashes, white and black eyeliner, pink blush, and bold pink lipstick.
Begin by applying a light beige or ivory eyeshadow across your eyelids, extending up to the brow bone. Next, use a white liner pencil to trace the entire length beneath your eyebrows. Gently blend it with your finger or a brush, but the goal is to keep it very artificial-looking and quite white there.
Apply the brown eyeshadow to your crease, blending it above your natural crease. Using the same white liner, fill in your lower waterline and extend it just below the lashes.
Next, take your black liner and line your upper lash line, winging it outward. Use the black liner to outline below the white liner you just applied. Be sure to connect it to the upper lash line and create four exaggerated lash hairs at the outer region. Then, finish the eyes by adding some thick false lashes for an exaggerated doll-like look.
For the lips, go for a bright pink shade and add some shine with a clear gloss. And, of course, you can add pink blush to your cheeks for that final touch!
LOOK 22: Gothic & Sparkly Glam
If you’re looking for a Halloween makeup look that’s both glamorous and gothic, this one is for you!
You’ll need silver eyeshadow, black eyeliner, false lashes, highlighter, and black lipstick. For the eyes, you can use gold glitter over your liner, and for the lips, try gold glitter as well. Depending on your preference and the size of glitter you use, you have three different options for the lips.
- You can apply your lipstick and then quickly use a Q-tip to roll on your glitter before it dries. This works best for very fine glitter.
- Take some clear gloss and mix a little glitter into it, then using a lip brush apply the mixture to your lips.
- Try using Unicorn Snot Face & Body Glitter over your lips.
If you want to add some glitter on top of your black winged liner. Try applying a light layer of DUO Brush-On Lash Adhesive over that eyeliner on your upper lid. Then using a small eye makeup brush swipe some glitter on before it dries. Keep in mind that this adhesive dries clear.
Don’t forget to add some sparkle to your wardrobe to really make this look pop!

Halloween Makeup Faqs:
For glittery Halloween makeup looks, how do I apply glitter to my face?
This will depend on the product and brand you use. Some brands offer glitter gels that don’t require any glue or adhesives. The glitter comes already mixed in with the gel, so all you need to do is apply.
There are also brands that offer glues to use with their particular glitter. Usually, these glues either come transparent or will dry transparent. And then there are awesome glitter primers like this one from NYX.
Just make sure whatever type of glitter formulation you go with is safe for the eye area if you are applying near the eyes. If you decide to use a glitter primer or glue, you simply apply it to your cheeks, forehead, etc., and then tap the loose glitter over it.
If you decide to try glitter primer, these glitters from Anastasia are divine! And NYX offers a ton of glitter options that can be found HERE!
Can I use regular makeup for Halloween?
Absolutely! In fact, you will notice that some of the looks in this article can be created with regular everyday makeup products you already probably own and use. You simply need to add a prop or two, like a crown, flowers for your hair, etc.
And with the rise of the oh-so-popular show “Euphoria,” the use of jewels and glitter has become a major makeup trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! So you will likely find yourself using those items again if you decide to purchase any for one of our featured makeup looks this Halloween.
What is considered good Halloween makeup?
When considering typical Halloween makeup, as in face and body paints, there are some brands that generally work better than others. And as a makeup artist with experience in special effects, I can attest to the fact that there are a few brands we hear about and use over and over again.
You want products that wear well, last long and offer great pigmentation (as in high pigmentation). And this is particularly the case when your look requires bright or unique colors on large areas of the face or body. Here are a few of those top brands…
How can I make my face pale for Halloween?
Depending on the look you are going for, you have a few options…
- You can try going with a foundation or concealer that is several shades lighter than your skin.
- Another option is to mix a white or very light gray (cream formula) face paint with your regular foundation.
- You can apply a face powder that is several shades lighter than your regular foundation after applying your foundation.
- Or, if you don’t want to go with a fully opaque white face paint, you can do a trick I used many years ago for a Zombieland movie premiere. We had to make all the people standing outside waiting to watch the celebrities arrive on the red carpet look like zombies and had so many people to do that we were only allowed 2 minutes per person. What you want to do is simply apply a sheer layer of water-activated face paint using a sea sponge like this.
